Lent, the McGivney Way, Part two

Last week we discussed the principles of Charity, Unity and Fraternity that are a solid framework to guide our Lenten journey of self-denial and spiritual growth. Deepening our charitable works through finances or acts for the needy around us proves to Jesus that we see Him in everyone.

Unity is crucial to the health of the Order. Only when we are united can we fulfill our mission to empower Catholic men to live their faith at home, in their parish, at work and in their community. Our unity with God is the foundation, strengthened as in any relationship by relentless communication. Lent is the refresher course for our commitment to daily prayer. Pray Daily. Spend a Friday in the Passion of Christ following the Stations of the Cross. Use the Lenten Black Book as a daily reminder for prayer. Turn off the distractions in the car and pray the rosary instead. Let prayer calm the noise and restore the strength of unity with Jesus Christ.

Announcing our Knight of the Month for March 2025: Gerard Schmid continues to give of his time and talent to the Knights. He recently plowed the Woodlot to enable a wood delivery to Italia Gardens. He contracted with a local supplier to secure two dumploads of hardwood delivered to the woodlot to be ready for the woodchucks this Spring. He anchored the 8:30am Rosary last month, and is a consistent lector at church. He provides even more behind the scenes that will remain unmentioned.  Please help me congratulate him and pray with me for the vitality of Gerard and his family.
