You may have heard members of the Knights of Columbus express the greeting “Vivat Jesus!”.
The words “Vivat Jesus!” are much more than a slogan or password for the Knights of Columbus. In these words, “Jesus lives!” we find the foundation, meaning and mission of our Order. “Vivat Jesus” was introduced around 1980 during the revision of the Knights of Columbus Ceremonials of the Order as a method of greeting another Knight. It was originally attributed to Bishop Charles P. Greco’s as his motto. It helps remind us that the activities and programs carried on by the Knights of Columbus must be inspired and nourished by the Catholic faith. Any practicing Catholic is welcome to share in the joy and inspiration that phrase incites. So if a Knight offers the phrase “Vivat Jesus!” to you, feel free to return the phrase, or just smile and say “Amen!”
Your St. Anne Knights (with other Parish supporters) will be running the following three Renaissance Festival beverage Taverns for the Labor Day Weekend: Red Lion, Throne of Swords, and the Round Table. If you come to the RenFest, be sure to stop by and give us a reason to shout, “Huzzah!” Proceeds to support local charitable endeavors.
