October Knight of the Month

Our October Knight of the Month has been to nearly every event we’ve had in the last two months, and is arguably the most dedicated Knight we’ve had during that time. He spent a 10 hour shift in our Renaissance Festival fundraiser, tied cornstalks for a morning at Cook’s, then went back the next week […]

Annual Dinner

The Knights held their annual dinner last week, and each year I recap the activities and accomplishments in a slideshow presentation. I wanted to take this bulletin entry to thank you, the parishioners of St Anne Parish. You’ve been consistently generous with your time and money in support of the Knights and our charities. In

Charity begins at home…

For the past few years St. Anne Knights have sponsored a section of Oakwood Road East from M15. Early last Saturday you may have seen your fellow parishioners in dayglo yellow vests picking up trash. We don’t get money for this. Twice a year we do our part to beautify our town because it fits

Successful MI Drive!

I’m pleased to announce the success of our 2025 MI drive! (MI stands for Mentally Impaired; better known as the Tootsie Roll Drive.) 33 Knights and wives covered 40 shifts Palm Sunday weekend and collected over $6,000. That beats 2024! And it’s worth pointing out we had a more comely group this year over last,

It’s All Because Of You

You may have heard (if you weren’t at the event) that your Knights council donated $5,000 to the St Anne Parish Fundraiser. That’s just about 20% of your entire yearly charitable budget. And it doesn’t happen without you, the parishioner. The dollars you so generously put in the basket at the pancake breakfast or Franks

Lent, the McGivney Way

The founder of the Knights of Columbus, Blessed Michael McGivney, gave us a framework for Catholic men in our Lenten self-denial and spiritual growth. It is the very principles of Charity, Unity and Fraternity. In the next three weeks, we will explore ways that you can deepen your Lenten experience, beginning this week with the

2024 Year in Review

2024 Year in Review: Support of many hands, support of many gifts, and support of many prayers. With our hands we’ve: flipped pancakes, grown veggies, built enclosures, sanded benches, handed out candy, poured beer and cried “Huzzah!” hauled pumpkins, directed traffic, picked up trash, mended fences, spread stain, chopped wood, sweated a lot, and laughed

CandyCane CHRISTmas Tree Farm

While the Maize and Blue stomped the team from the OreO state (sorry, Spartans), our valiant Knights braved the weather to establish parking lot safety and order for our Parishioner Cathy Genovese at her business, the CandyCane CHRISTmas Tree Farm. Our yearly support (which results in a generous donation for our local charities) is always

Ukraine Solidarity Fund

The Russian invasion of Ukraine spurred one of the largest relief efforts in Knights of Columbus history. Since February 24, 2022, we have prayed for peace, collected more than $23.4 million for the Ukraine Solidarity Fund and worked tirelessly to bring help to more than 1.6 million victims of war – particularly refugees, children, widows

Candy-cane CHRISTmas Tree Farm

I learned something amazing my first shift parking cars at Candycane CHRISTmas tree farm. (I admit, I wasn’t looking forward to standing in freezing weather for hours on my Thanksgiving weekend). What I learned? EVERYONE who gets out of a car at a Christmas tree farm is filled with the Christmas spirit! It’s truly inspiring.

Picking Pumpkins and Parking Cars

The Knights are picking pumpkins and corn stalks in support of Cook’s Farm Dairy again, starting this week through the end of the month. Anyone can come help (supervised children must be old enough to repeatedly pick up a large pumpkin). They pay in free Ice Cream at the end! And they donated $2,700 to

Charity begins at home…

For the Knights of Columbus, that means not only running charity fundraisers to support local organizations (like the  Club Create North Oakland County highlighted last week), but also using our time and talent for non-monetary charity. An example: The retaining fence surrounding the Parish’s  East drainage swale was in need of repair, and this Spring
